Between the 13th and 17th of May, LSTS was the host of the Oceans: Challenges and Opportunities conference.

The Conference "Oceans Challenges and Opportunities" (OC2013) took place in Auditório Infante D. Henrique on the APDL - Port Authority of Douro and Leixões premises (Leca da Palmeira), from May 13th to the 17th  2013.

The event included guest speakers from the USA, Europe, Africa and Brazil, having also been attended by several national foundations.

There were representatives from institutions such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the University of Washington, the University of Hawaii and the United States Coast Guard among others.

The OC2013 was also marked with the distinguished presence of the Director-General for  Sea Policy, in the opening session as well as the Secretary of State of the Sea, on the closing day.
